The coaching staff at
Brightlingsea Bowls Club
welcome all new and current
members to join them in
developing the skills in the
sport of lawn bowls.
Brightlingsea Bowls Club has
qualified coaching staff, one
man and one lady qualified to
Level 2 and one man to
Level 1.
The club offer coaching to all
new bowlers and to existing
bowlers who might request
assistance with any aspect of
the game. All coaching takes
place on the green, at the
club in Regent Road, during
the outdoor season from May
through to September.
A coaching programme on
offer to anyone interested in
knowing more about the sport
is available even before there
needs to be a commitment to
join the club as a member.
Four separate one hour basic
coaching lessons are available
to introduce people to the
game.
County Qualified Coaches
There is no fee required and
all equipment is available –
the only requirement is the
wearing of reasonably flat
soled footwear without heels.
We are fortunate to have a
stock of club bowls in many
sizes so learning with bowls
that suit the individual is not
a problem.
Coaching can be on a one to
one basis or with two/three
others, at a time suitable to
the learner. The coaches are
confident that anyone can
deliver bowls after just two
lessons – come and have a go!
On completion of the
programme an application
form to join the club is
offered, but could be taken
up at any time during or after
this coaching programme.
The club is a mixed club with
a wide cross section of age
group. Some of our younger
members came through our
coaching programme and now
play a very competitive game
against their coaches!
Once the basics have been picked
up all members are assisted to
become part of the club social
games and then into more
competitive play should they wish
that. At all times the coaches are
available to assist with the skill
process.
Anyone interested in learning the
skills of bowls should either call
in at the club in Regent Road or
contact the Club Secretary on
01206 302696.
