- BRIEF SYNOPSIS OF CAREER
June has had a professional dancing career with IRISH NATIONAL BALLET COMPANY
(traditional classical repertoire and more contemporary works)
June developed a range of dance styles and
studied Mime, Music and Drama with famed teachers in UK and
FRANCE. She has acted, sang, and danced in musicals, revues and comedies
in different countries
She has taught Ballet and Modern Dance at
her own successful School in Dublin.
Choreographed many different kinds of entertainment: Opera, Ballets,
Musicals, Drama, Fashion Shows, etc.
Interested in Dance/Music Therapy. Taught voluntarily Central Remedial
Clinic; (where Christopher Nolan ‘Under the Clock’ and Christy Brown “My
Left Foot” were amongst her pupils); Saint Patrick’s Mental Hospital;
Dublin Deaf Theatre Association; Leopards town Geriatric Hospital and St.
Joseph's Orphanage, Ireland
- In 1973 June directed and choreographed
her own Dance Group “ MIXTURE ” for R.T.E.
(IRISH NATIONAL TV) and EUROVISION. This became a weekly series
that ran for 3 years giving employment to over 300 dancers
June Glazier's Group “ INTERNATIONAL MIXTURE ” toured to Europe, Middle
and Far East until 1979, when the birth of a dancing daughter to the
Lucas family encouraged June Glazier to devote herself to teaching
again. Invited to be Ballet Mistress at the DUBLIN CITY BALLET Russian
style and RAD exams introduced, despite political protests
Qualified as E.X.T.E.N.D teacher (Special Needs).
Qualified British Physical Education Association Aerobics and
Gymnasium Instructor
In 1988 she started to study for the new RAD Teaching Exams
(specialising in Majors). Completed Psychology, Anatomy; Music and
History diplomas, specialising in the teaching of Children.
Fully qualified teaching member of the RAD. Invited to apply to become
RAD Examiner
Irish Government introduced Educational Dance in Schools (loosely based
on LABAN system) and she became Head of Dance in Education Department at
Marino College in Dublin.
Taught RAD ballet, modern dance, tap,
ballroom and contemporary at all levels in UK, France, Germany,
Portugal, Italy, Sweden, Norway and Spain
June was awarded a prize for introducing dance, theatre and music education to the
isolated, rural community of Cómpeta, Spain.
She became a Youth Group organiser
and leader (during three years) for Spain at the European Youth
Arts Initiative, “ENERGY IN THE CITY”, in UK, France and Sweden.
These encounters brought together underprivileged young people
from all over Europe, to share the experience of communicating
and interacting via the arts
