Buddhism

life is the most precious of all treasuresMyoho Renge Kyo is the title of the Lotus Sutra in which the first recorded Buddha (circa 500 B.C), known variously as Siddhartha or Shakyamuni, teaches of the true nature of Buddhahood - the power of wisdom, courage, compassion and life-force - common to all living beings. Nichiren Daishonin (1222-1282) taught that by chanting NAM-MYOHO-RENGE-KYO we can activate Buddhahood and, consequently, the power to affect our own destiny and that of our environment.

The non-theistic approach of Buddhism has much in common with the western tradition of scientific humanism, encouraging a rational and disciplined approach to understanding the nature of reality. If you would like to learn more about chanting NAM-MYOHO-RENGE-KYO, please take a look at this practical guide to Buddhist practice.
