COFFEE MORNING
MARION LEWIS, TEL 01924 372633

Unfortunately the January Coffee Morning had to be cancelled due to the bad weather. Chris, the caretaker of the Sports Club told me access and parking at the Club were very bad. Shirley Dufton and I tried to contact as many of the regular attenders as possible so please accept our apologies if you went and found the event cancelled. Because it is the A.G.M.in March the next Coffee Morning will be in May.

This group has now become a victim of its own success. It now has 17 members with up to 15 attending on a regular weekly basis. It is with some regret therefore I have had to close the group to new members. However, not all is lost. I have already started a waiting list and may have found somebody who will lead it. When the waiting list has six names on it, I can consider starting a second group and take steps to liaise with the committee to arrange a meeting room. Hopefully, this will not take too long.

2010 INCREASE IN SUBSCRIPTIONS

The Committee held an extra meeting recently because we were concerned that our costs might substantially increase next year. We believe that the financial reserve we carry will go a long way towards mitigating any increases but in order that our reserve is not totally depleted we feel we have no option but to increase fees commencing in September 2010 by £2 per annum, bringing the total payable at that time up to £12. This increase will be put to the AGM for ratification. We are still one of the lowest fee paying U3A’s around and we sincerely hope you will not find this increase onerous.
